Techkriti 2025 – A Celebration of Innovation, Valor, and Vision

Techkriti 2025

Every March, the campus of IIT Kanpur transforms into a bustling nexus of innovation, intellect, and inspiration. Techkriti, the institute’s annual technical and entrepreneurial extravaganza, has evolved into Asia’s largest of its kind, and its 31st edition, held from March 27 to 31, 2025, took things to a whole new level. From showcasing futuristic defense tech to high-octane Robowars, and thought-provoking talks to soul-stirring music, Techkriti 2025 wasn’t just an event, it was an experience that echoed with the spirit of creation and the rhythm of innovation.

The name ‘Techkriti’ fuses “tech” for technology and “kriti,” a Sanskrit word for creation, a fitting title for a festival that celebrates human ingenuity. This year’s theme, “Panta Rhei” – Greek for “Everything Flows” was a nod to the ever-changing, ever-evolving nature of science, ideas, and the human pursuit of knowledge.

One of the standout moments this year was the launch of Rakshakriti, a groundbreaking defense symposium added to the Techkriti legacy. This new vertical paid homage to India’s strides in defense innovation and Atmanirbharta (self-reliance). The symposium was inaugurated by none other than General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff, who delivered a compelling keynote on the future of warfare and technology.

During the Techkriti days, Rakshakriti drew several high-profile guests. Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, Chief of Air Staff, joined as Guest of Honour on March 28. The symposium also featured a talk by General C.S. Mann, ADG of the Army Design Bureau, who highlighted the importance of collaboration between the military, academia, and industry. Former ISRO Chairman Dr. A.S. Kiran Kumar added a cosmic perspective to the discussions.

But it wasn’t all speeches and seminars. On-ground action gave attendees an electrifying glimpse into India’s defense prowess. The Air Warrior Drill Team (AWDT) wowed the audience with a breathtaking display at the Flight Lab airstrip. A grand Defense Rally on March 29 brought out the big guns, literally, with jaw-dropping appearances by the Indian Army, NSG, Para SF, and Garud Commandos. Military-grade ATVs, LSVs, and a gripping Para SF drill showcasing Man-Unmanned Teaming left the audience spellbound. The exhibition arena featured displays from ISRO, DRDO, Bharat Forge, and all three branches of India’s armed forces, offering attendees a rare, up-close look at our defense ecosystem.

Meanwhile, over at the Open Air Theatre, Robowars was nothing short of a mechanical spectacle. For the first time, the arena was shifted outdoors, and the atmosphere was supercharged. In the 8 kg category, Team Decepticon claimed victory, while Team Xenon emerged as champions in the 15 kg bracket. The 60 kg heavyweight title went to Team Orcus after a thunderous clash of titans. The crowd roared, sparks flew, and adrenaline soared, it was robot carnage at its finest.

Techkriti 2025 signed off with a magical Pronite headlined by the legendary Sonu Nigam, whose soul-touching performance under a starlit sky left hearts full and spirits high. From the debut of Rakshakriti to the roaring arenas of Robowars, from engaging keynotes to unforgettable nights, Techkriti 2025 redefined what a tech festival could be, more than an event, it was a celebration of creativity, courage, and the unstoppable current of innovation.
