It’s been 30 years since the first PlayStation was launched and Sony wants fans to celebrate in style. The company has announced the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection, which includes models of the PS5 and PS5 Pro that are designed to imitate the looks of the original console that started it all.

Let’s take a look at what differentiates the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection consoles and accessories from their original counterparts.

    PlayStation 5 – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition

The nostalgic vibe is visible through and through on this special edition of the PS5. It gets the retro four-colour PS logo and has the 30th Anniversary branding on the inside of its strip. On the back, the console even features a special logo that has been crafted keeping the three-decade anniversary in mind. This logo also replaces the symbols that create a unique texture on the entirety of the console. Lastly, the console’s new vertical stand is minimal in nature and matches the grey theme of the rest of the assembly.

This console will be available in both disc and no-disc variants and come with a 1TB SSD, a special edition controller (more on that later), a limited edition poster and a few other knick-knacks.

PlayStation 5 Pro – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition

The PS5 Pro has a few more design perks compared to the PS5. The three-stripe design will include a number between 1 and 12,300, designating the exact number of the console, since only 12,300 are going to be manufactured. On its bottom, it will also feature a ‘30th Anniversary’ embossed print.

As announced earlier, the PS5 Pro will ship with a 2TB SSD and Wi-Fi 7 support. All its other design cues match those on the above-mentioned regular PS5. Moreover, it will come with a regular DualSense as well as a DualSense Edge controller that will have its own special case.

DualSense Wireless Controller – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition

While Sony will be bundling the consoles with these new controllers, they will also be purchasable separately. The regular DualSense Wireless Controller gets the same four-colour PS logo on its main button, apart from a dual-tone design to match the looks of the retro console.

DualSense Edge Wireless Controller – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition

The bottom portion of the DualSense Edge gets a shiny texture, while its trackpad and its shoulder triggers receive the PlayStation symbol treatment.

Things are not very different on the limited edition PS Portal. It has the four-colour logo on its left and the dual-tone finish on its body.

    Price and release date

Sony still hasn’t announced the pricing of these consoles and accessories but their pre-order dates aren’t very far away. According to the PlayStation blog, eager gamers will be able to place their pre-orders from September 26 via PlayStation Direct. In countries where the portal is not available, buyers will be able to purchase them through participating retailers.
