Nothing OS 3.0 Open Beta 1 Now Available for Nothing Phone 2a

Nothing Phone 2a

Nothing has officially announced the release of its OS 3.0 Open Beta 1 for the Phone 2a, offering users a chance to experience the latest update ahead of its full public rollout in December. Built on Android 15, the update promises enhanced customisation options for both home and lock screens, along with upgraded widgets, camera improvements, and various other refinements. According to the company, the beta programme will be extended to additional devices later this year, including the Phone 2 and CMF Phone 1.

Key Features of Nothing OS 3.0 Open Beta 1

In a detailed community post, Nothing shared insights into the standout features of its OS 3.0 Open Beta 1. The update introduces a revamped lock screen, making it easier to personalise. Users can now directly edit their lock screen elements simply by long-pressing, allowing for a more intuitive customisation experience. Additionally, the update brings new clock faces, typefaces, and fresh design layouts to give users more control over their phone’s aesthetic.

One of the most notable new features is the AI-powered smart app drawer. This feature intelligently organises apps into categories based on usage patterns, ensuring that frequently used apps are easily accessible. Users can also pin their favourite apps at the top of the drawer, adding an extra layer of convenience to app management. Camera improvements are a major highlight of the update. Users will notice faster HDR processing, quicker launch speeds when using the camera widget, and improved performance in low-light conditions. The update also introduces an enhanced zoom slider display for more precise control during shooting. To make multitasking smoother, Nothing has introduced new pop-up view options, allowing users to resize and move windows effortlessly. These pop-up views can now be pinned to the screen’s edge for easy access.

In keeping with the brand’s signature dot-matrix design theme, Nothing has updated the fingerprint unlock animation, offering a visually cohesive experience across the device. Another practical feature in the update is the new auto-archiving functionality, which automatically frees up storage without deleting apps or data, ensuring that users have more space without having to manually manage their files. Additionally, screen recording has been improved, allowing users to capture specific sections of the screen rather than the entire display. To further streamline the user experience, the setup wizard has been upgraded to version 3.0, making the initial setup process smoother than ever.
