While Apple is busy marketing its Apple Intelligence-less iPhone 16 models, news about their succeeding handset has washed ashore. The iPhone SE 4, the low-cost iPhone that’s pegged for an early 2025 launch, could have a heavier price tag and a surprisingly high-end chip.
As per a new leak, the iPhone SE 4 could be sold with a $499 (approx. Rs 41,730) price tag. That’s a $70 (approx. Rs 5,850) increase in the value of the base model compared to that of the iPhone SE 3. That said, the base model of the previous device had a measly 64GB of storage, forcing many buyers to opt for the 128GB option, which cost $479 (approx. Rs 40,000). Thankfully, though, the leak states that the base model of the upcoming iPhone SE 4 will most definitely bear $128GB of storage.
Meanwhile, there’s news about the iPhone SE 4’s design as well. Mike Gurman from Bloomberg has stated that it will use the body of the iPhone 14, meaning a notch will be present on its screen to occupy the Face ID hardware. While this will make it the first iPhone SE model to ditch the Touch ID feature, it contradicts an earlier report that predicted the phone to opt for the Dynamic Island.
More importantly, the iPhone SE 4 is expected to ship with at least a few Apple Intelligence features. Apple has been clear that higher-end hardware is needed for Apple Intelligence to work, which is leading many to speculate that the iPhone SE 4 is likely to grab at least 8GB worth of RAM and run on the Apple A17 Pro chip that’s currently found inside the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Apple is likely to unveil the iPhone SE 4 in March next year. We’ll have more on it when new details are out.
