Google Brings AI-Powered ‘Search Screen’ to Chrome on iOS

Google Lens

Google is revolutionising how users search with a groundbreaking visual lookup feature for Chrome and the Google app on iOS. Unveiled on Wednesday, this powerful enhancement leverages Google Lens to let users perform visual searches directly from their screen, no need for screenshots or additional apps.

Drawing inspiration from the AI-powered Circle to Search, this new capability enables seamless interactions such as identifying objects, translating text, and even recognising songs. Additionally, Google integrates AI Overviews into the experience, instantly ensuring users receive comprehensive insights.

Google Lens Brings Visual Search to Chrome on iOS

With over 20 billion visual searches conducted via Google Lens monthly, the tech giant is taking its functionality to new heights. Now, iPhone users can tap into this AI-driven tool directly from Google Chrome. Dubbed “Search Screen with Google Lens,” this feature enables users to highlight, draw around, or tap on any element on a webpage to initiate an instant visual lookup. By eliminating the need for cumbersome screenshots and manual searches, Google is streamlining how users interact with the digital world.

To access this feature in Chrome for iOS, users simply need to:

  • Tap the three-dot menu at the bottom right of the browser.
  • Select “Search Screen with Google Lens.”
  • Highlight any part of the screen to trigger a Google Search bottom sheet, instantly displaying relevant information.

Google App on iOS Gets an AI-Powered Boost

This intuitive feature isn’t limited to Chrome; Google is also rolling it out within the Google app for iOS. When browsing a webpage through the app, users can tap the three-dot menu at the top right and select “Search this Screen” to activate a visual search. A standout aspect of this upgrade is the integration of AI Overviews. When users make a relevant query via Lens, AI-generated summaries appear automatically, delivering key insights without requiring additional clicks or scrolling.

This enhancement will redefine how users interact with digital content, making searches more fluid, intuitive, and efficient. With this latest update, Google continues to push the boundaries of AI-powered search, offering iOS users a smarter, more convenient way to explore the world, one visual query at a time.
