Maintaining the Mac Mini’s legacy of packing remarkable hardware in miniature enclosures, its newest edition has just arrived with an unchanged Rs 59,900 price tag. At its heart is, of course, the M4 silicon in both its basic and Pro forms.
Mac Mini (2024): What’s New?
- The square housing of the machine measures just 5 inches in both height and length. As opposed to that, the M2 Mac Mini has a footprint of 7 x 7 inches, albeit with a slimmer 1.4-inch profile.
- The big question of heat management is answered by an innovative thermal architecture that guides air to different levels of the system and gets rid of it through the bottom.
- The M4 chip that’s found in the base Mac Mini grabs a 10-core CPU and a 10-core GPU and starts with 16GB of unified memory. It supports hardware-accelerated ray tracing, which is great news for gamers.
- The M4 Pro, on the other hand, carries a 14-core CPU and a 20-core GPU for supporting advanced tasks. 24GB of unified memory is standard but it can be expanded up to 64GB.
- Dual Type-C ports can be found on the front of the new Mac Mini, sitting beside a 3.5mm jack. On the back, buyers will find three Thunderbolt 4 ports that will turn into three Thunderbolt 5 ports if they go for the M4 Pro models. An Ethernet port, an HDMI port, and a power port complete the I/O design of the device.
- Apple has revealed that the M4 Mac Mini can support up to two 6K displays and up to one 5K display, whereas the M4 Pro variant can support up to three 6K displays.
- The new Mac Mini models come with support for all the Apple Intelligence features that have been released till now via the macOS Sequoia update.
