Apple Brings Truecaller-Like Business Caller ID for Verified Calls

Apple

Apple has unveiled plans to launch a new feature called Business Caller ID, set to debut next year. This feature will allow businesses to display their name, logo, and department on the incoming call screen of the users they contact. The goal is to help users quickly identify legitimate businesses and reduce the chances of falling prey to spam calls or fraudulent outreach.

“Next year, businesses will have the ability to register for Business Caller ID. Their name, logo, and department will appear on the recipient’s call screen when they reach out, helping customers distinguish verified businesses from unwanted callers,” Apple detailed in a recent blog post.

The Business Caller ID feature is part of Apple’s broader Apple Business Connect program. This initiative allows businesses to create a visual brand identity and enhance their interaction with customers. According to Apple, businesses, including those that operate entirely online, can now register for Apple Business Connect, establishing a consistent brand presence across various Apple services like Maps, Wallet, and Siri. They can showcase place cards, logos, photos, and custom actions to further engage with their audience.

In its latest announcement, Apple also revealed that businesses can now display their branding in the Mail and Phone apps and customise their logo for Tap to Pay on iPhone. While these updates are already available to businesses, customers will start seeing them later this year.

Additionally, with updates to Apple Business Connect, companies can replace generic category icons with their own logos when accepting payments through Tap to Pay on iPhone. This will give customers the confidence that they are transacting with a verified business.

For business owners, whether they operate online or offline, registering for Apple Business Connect is straightforward. Using their existing Apple Account, they can sign up through a self-service website, customise their branding, and begin leveraging these features for free. With these new developments, Apple is aiming to create a more secure and streamlined communication and transaction experience for both businesses and consumers.
