MediaTek launched a new flagship SoC – Dimensity 9200

After a month of rumours, MediaTek has finally launched a new chipset for flagship smartphones – the Dimensity 9200. The latest flagship chipset is based on the TSMC N4P node and is the first SoC with ARM’s Gen 2 architecture with new cores. The newly launched chipset promised to offer better performance as compared to its predecessor, Dimensity 9000.

The latest system-on-chip from MediaTek is designed to deliver high-performance gaming, ultra-sharp image capturing and significantly reduced power consumption. MediaTek is known to be frequently associated with budget Android phones, but slowly and steadily, the company is making its way to the flagship devices.

The SoC can also support both mmWave and sub-6 GHz band 5G networks and is said to be the first SoC to be ready for WiFi 7, which means it can deliver speeds of up to 6.5Gbps on the device. An ARMv9 Gen 2 architecture arrives with a Cortex-X3 core which handles the most demanding tasks along with the three Cortex-A715 performance cores.

As per MediaTek, the latest chipset, Dimensity 9200, is up to 32% faster than the GPU in the Dimensity 9000 and uses 41% less power. The four Cortex-A510 low-power cores help the compatible device with the battery life. The Imagiq 890 image signal supports RGBW camera sensors and promises more brightness along with details in photos than plain RGB.

The MediaTek Dimensity 9200 promises a very comfortable smartphone viewing experience and will be available by the end of 2022, and most probably, it will debut with Vivo X90. Now that MediaTek has officially launched Dimensity 9200, Qualcomm will surely try to grab the attention with their SoC Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, as it’s already on the horizon.
