Not long after its global launch, Leica has introduced its new Q3 43 full-frame compact camera in India. The third-gen Q-series shooter offers a 43mm fixed focal length through its APO-Summicron 43 f/2 ASPH lens. Along with launching the camera, the German firm has also introduced celebrated chef Ranveer Brar as its brand ambassador in the country.

Leica’s APO lenses are known for mirroring the natural perception of the human eye, and the APO-Summicron 43 f/2 ASPH is best suited for street photography and portraits. And like the one on the Leica Q3, this one, too, features an integrated macro mode for close-ups. Its wide maximum aperture gives it the ability to create exquisite bokeh and offer short exposure times, even in low light. Users of the Leica Q3 43 will be able to explore 43mm, 60mm, 75mm, 90mm, 120mm and 150mm focal lengths.

As for the sensor, it’s a full-frame BSI-CMOS unit with Leica’s Triple Resolution Technology that enables 60MP, 36MP, and 18MP resolutions. The ISO range of this shooter can stretch from 50 to 100,000, giving plenty of support for low-light photography. The Q3 43 ships with Leica’s Hybrid Autofocus System, which uses a host of technologies like phase detection, AI, and contrast detection to offer quick focus. Users of the camera can also use it to capture videos in 16:9 and 17:9 aspect ratios. In fact, the Leica Q3 43 is capable of capturing 8K videos.

As for its body, it takes a slight departure from the design of the Q3 by adopting grey leather, which stands out elegantly against the black camera construction. The device is IP52-rated, giving it basic protection against dust and water. Apart from an electronic viewfinder, it also features a 5.76MP OLED screen that’s touch-friendly and tiltable. It’s no surprise that the Q3 43 supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, offering a seamless mobile workflow. More importantly, it bears the ‘Made for iPhone’ branding, which means those using iPhones and iPads will receive a smoother file transfer experience.
