iPhone 13 Pro Max VS 12 Pro Max VS Android | Review

When Apple added the tagline, “Oh. So. Pro.” under the iPhone 13 Pro Max, to attract consumers, we had no choice but to believe in the company and wait till the launch. When the phone arrived at our office for a review, we realized what Apple said about the iPhone 13 Pro Max was absolutely true as it is the best iPhone ever and features the best camera update along with the best battery life ever on iPhones.

Before moving ahead with the top 5 elements of the iPhone 13 Pro Max, lets first take a look at the common smartphone buying scenario, you’ll find there are three kinds of smartphone buyers in the world now, one who has an iPhone 11 series or before that, the second one who has bought iPhone 12 Pro Max in October 2020 when it was launched and the last ones are Android users who have been forever wanting to switch to apple but haven’t moved to the ship yet.

Now, if you’re the first type of buyer, I would recommend you go for iPhone 13 Pro Max as it’s the best one in the market, worth every penny and you will get a completely updated smartphone which you won’t have to change for another 3-4 years unless Apple drops foldable screen, obliterates notch and adds a fingerprint scanner. Well, these are the three things that I am personally looking forward to but if you have the money buy it now.

If you’re the second type of buyer who has already drilled a hole in a wallet with the iPhone 12 Pro Max, then stay put and be prepared to live your life without the features such as Pro-Motion, Cinematic Mode, Bigger Battery, and 120Hz refresh rate. And for the last type of buyers, switching from Android to Apple is a never-ending journey as the only similarity between the two is the first alphabet of their names.

Battery:

Unfortunately, even in iPhone 13 lineup, you can’t see your battery percentage without pulling down the control center, but all 2021 iPhones come with increased battery capacity, and in the case of the iPhone 13 Pro Max’ battery life, it has a 4352 mAh battery, about 18% more than its predecessor iPhone 12 Pro Max, which has 3687 mAh of battery capacity.

This is a huge upgrade and the gigantic battery can last long for a day at least. When I was on a business trip to Pondicherry, I watched a movie in Full HD resolution on the 13 Pro Max from 6 AM to 9 AM during my flight. Later on, I used the GPS from Chennai to Pondicherry, clicked a few photos during halts, made videos for the gram, and still, at the end of the day, by 10 PM, it had some juice left for me, which is simply incredible and ensures it has the most optimized battery ever in a smartphone today.

Resolution & Refresh Rate:

The Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max has a small bezel around the screen like its older siblings, and it even has the exact screen sizes and resolutions: 6.7 inches at 1284 x 2778 pixels and~458 PPI density with super retina XDR OLED. The significant difference between the two Pro Max’s is in the 13 Pro Max, you get a 120Hz refresh rate and 1000 nits HBM, whereas, in the 12 Pro Max, you get a 60 Hz Refresh Rate and 800 nits. The refresh rate experience is so seamless and fluid in the 13 Pro Max that once you get used to it. But the taste of the pudding is in the eating if you have not used the 13 pro max then you can still live happily with the 12 Pro Max.

Camera & Optics :

The camera system in iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max is identical, and you don’t have to buy the most expensive phone in the lineup to get the best photos. The camera on the iPhone 13 Pro device is advertised as the biggest advancement ever as it offers the Pro-Motion and Cinematic Mode Experience. In terms of camera comparison of the 12 Pro Max and 13 Pro Max, it’s a one-sided game, and discussing it is a complete waste of time.

With the launch of the 13 Pro Max, Apple dropped the best camera smartphone ever. Apple has added improved low-light capability and Night Mode to all three 12MP sensors on the rear of the Pro Max, and the company has also added a feature of a nifty macro photography mode to the phone for a better camera experience. The feature helps the handset shift automatically to an ultrawide camera when you get close to objects, and the effects are stellar.

Since the iPhone 13 Pro Max saves the videos raw, the depth map and the defined focus point stand separate, allowing the video’s focus to be edited afterward not only on the iPhone 13 itself but also on other devices. Currently, Cinematic Mode is available only for the wide-angle, telephoto cameras on the back and the selfie camera.

Chipset:

iPhone 13 Pro Max’s chipset A15 Bionic blows the door off of Android phones as it is extremely fast and gives the phone the title of the world’s fastest phone. The 12 Pro Max has an A14 Bionic, and you’ll know the actual difference between A14 and A15 when you are multitasking and gaming. The new 6-core CPU in the A15 chip is 20-50 % faster than most smartphones, including A14 and snapdragon 888. A15 can process 15.8 trillion operations per second, roughly about 40% more capable than the A14’s 11 trillion operations per second.

Cinematic mode – The Final Nail:

One of the fascinating features of the 2021 iPhones is the Cinematic Mode, which is a total game-changer. Cinematic Mode is basically Portrait Mode, but for video. This mode applies a depth-of-field effect that keeps the focus point of your video sharp while creating a beautifully blurred foreground and background. It also mimics professional videography techniques by adding on-the-fly depth of field effects to recognized subjects. Software algorithms are used to detect and focus on people, pets, and objects, which are made to stand out against blurred backgrounds. With Cinematic Mode, Apple has changed the battlefield where, along with smartphones, even purebred imaging companies like Nikon, Canon, Fujifilm should begin to worry.

Let me try to explain this – Depth of the field in cinematic mode is an illusion, digital illusion rather. When you film, everything is in focus before the computer separates what it perceives as the foreground, background, and everything in between. Now you can decide whether or not to upgrade from the 12 pro max.

Now let’s address the Third Android type – If you are wondering then let me tell you that the closest phone which comes to the 13pro max is still the Samsung S21ultra 5G.

OnePlus Blames the Recent Charger Explosion to External Factors

OnePlus Nord 2 5G charger is back again in the headline with another harrowing user experience, which puts the company in a tight spot. The incident happened with a Bangalore-based software engineer, Jimmy Jose, who connected his charger to a socket for quick charging, which unfortunately resulted in a huge blast. The concerned user tagged the Twitter profiles of OnePlus India and OnePlus Support in a series of tweets and explained what exactly happened?

Previously, Delhi-based lawyer Gaurav Gulati had claimed that his OnePlus Nord 2 smartphone exploded in his gown. The incident happened when the lawyer was sitting in his chamber, and when he complained about the same to bring the company’s attention to the incident, he was left stranded. Going further, he filed a lawsuit against the OnePlus, to which the company sent him a cease-and-desist notice, stating that he has been defaming the company by posting false statements on social media.

In both the cases and even during a similar incident that occurred in Bengaluru a month ago, where a OnePlus Nord 2 5G exploded in a woman’s sling bag, the company said that the explosion happened due to external factors and not due to any manufacturing or design defects. In the case of Jimmy Jose, the OnePlus technician said the incident occurred due to an issue with the socket or a voltage fluctuation and promised to provide a replacement charger.

“We take any claim like this very seriously. The user has handed over the damaged OnePlus Charger to our service centre and has been offered a replacement. OnePlus chargers contain built-in capacitors which control and store energy. In this case, after a thorough analysis, the capacitors have remained intact concluding that the blast has been caused by external factors such as voltage fluctuations.” OnePlus mentioned in a statement and strongly urges users to follow safety precautions and warnings specified in its user manual.

Meanwhile, in the case of a Delhi-based Lawyer, the company said that it couldn’t perform a proper diagnosis as the user refused to give them the device and sent a legal notice to the lawyer to give self-contradictory and false statements. Overall, the company refused to accept that all three blasts were caused by manufacturing issues or design defects and blamed it directly on external circumstances such as voltage fluctuations caused by the rainstorm, not taking certain safety precautions and warnings specified in its user manual.

Apple Hypes Launch Event With Invite Carrying AR Easter Egg

Finally, the suspense is over, and the date is revealed. On Tuesday, Apple finalised that it is hosting the September event next week. However, it is still not confirmed by Apple that the release of the iPhone 13 will happen in that event or not. But as per the hints given by Apple in its invite that bought us with the augmented reality AR experience, we can make out that the launch will be a big one.

Since last year, to boost up its announcements, a record of offering AR Easter eggs has been made by Apple. The Tim- cook led team Has raised the platform and advised that the upcoming Apple iPhone inauguration should be with AR experience this time, which will take the iPhone lovers to the next level experience.

If you have an iPhone or iPad, you can go to the Apple events webpage and click on the September 14 invite. You can experience the recent AR Easter egg. In that, you can see an AR Apple logo that will come into view over your camera viewfinder. You can keep in motion your Apple device to see the “9. 14” inauguration date and can also zoom in to see the landscape behind it.

The logo uses Apple’s AR kit that is already installed on the iPhone and iPad. The launch video also has sound effects powered by spatial audio with the song “weather” by WDL. This AR experience could be embossed if the LiDAR sensor is present in the new Apple iPhone models.

Spotlight of the event.

An AR logo has been made by apple that was shown on its event webpage.

The logo takes us to a lake landscape where we can visualise the “9.14” release date.

Reportedly, iPhone 13 Series shall provide the new AR feel.

Samsung Galaxy M52 5G’s Support Page has Gone Live on Samsung India’s Website

The support page of the Samsung Galaxy M52 5G smartphone has gone live on the company’s official website. Previously, the leaked images and specifications of the phone have appeared multiple times on different websites, but now the handset with model number M-M526B/DS has popped up on Samsung India’s official website, which means the device will soon hit the Indian markets.

The Samsung M series is one of the most loved series by the Indian audience, and they’ve been waiting for the launch of the Samsung Galaxy M52 5G for a long time. Smartphone companies create phone support pages when the phones are about to launch, but sadly, the company hasn’t revealed any details about the launch date, price and specifications on the support page.

The yet-to-be-launched smartphone has passed through several certification websites, including the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) website, the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) website and Bluetooth SIG. According to trusted insiders, the smartphone is said to be powered by the Snapdragon 778G chipset and the latest One UI 3.1 based on Android 11.

The smartphone is expected to feature a big 6.7-inch full HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity-O display and a screen resolution of 1080×2400 pixels. On the camera front, the smartphone is said to have a triple camera setup with a 64 MP primary camera, 12 MP ultra-wide sensor and a 5MP depth sensor. It may sport a 32 MP selfie camera and come with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for protection.

The Samsung Galaxy M52 5G is tipped to have a 7,000 mAh battery, just like its predecessor, Galaxy M51, and it is expected to come with a 15W fast charging feature. According to the Geekbench listing, the smartphone may arrive with up to 8GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. M52 5G’s predecessor, Galaxy M51, is currently priced at ₹21,999 on Amazon, which means M52 5G might arrive with a starting price of more than ₹22k.

The Flip That You Can Fold In Your Pocket

The future is bend. Like in Automobiles future is electric, the same way in the tech world future is screens that can bend, rotate, and remain submerged in water. Flip phones have a nostalgia attached to them ever since Moto Razr was launched and again when Motorola launched its Razr Flip, but before that, Samsung has been axing its saw and had already dropped Fold1 and Fold2 along with Flip1 and Flip2.

And now it’s time to meet Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 5G, while the Z Fold3 is around the corner. The new flip phone is not heavily updated, but it has a unique and wonderful charm to grab attention. When it’s flattened, it looks like a regular smartphone, but when flipped, it feels like you’re having one of the most incredible devices in your hands.

The new flip phone from Samsung comes in two colours (Phantom Black and Cream) and two variants. The 8GB/128GB variant is priced at ₹84,999, while the 8GB/256GB variant is priced at ₹88,999. The Galaxy Z Flip 3 has the same processor as the Galaxy S21, and clearly, it’s the first foldable phone everyone wants to buy, including Alia Bhatt, as it doesn’t compromise on performance, durability, and most of all, price.

When it comes to competition, only Motorola Razr lies in this category, but it’s a year-old phone now. I spent most of my time with the Z Flip 3 while running errands, while driving, while trekking, and I realised it just occupies a very little space in your pocket and helps you to move quicker. The Z Flip3 isn’t necessarily a sure bet, it has flaws too, but this new foldable smartphone from Samsung has the potential to be the most normal foldable smartphone available.

Design

The phone arrives in a small box with minimal accessories and doesn’t look different from its predecessors, but it has an outer display with useful features this time. When unfolded, it boasts a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED Infinity Flex display with an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate, and when folded, it sports Super AMOLED 1.9-inches. The hinge is more flexible now, and there’s less of a gap between sides when it’s closed, which makes the phone more handsome than ever.

The back of the Z Flip 3 is covered in Gorilla Glass Victus, while a flexible plastic display protects the inside screen. On the right side, there is a lock button with a fingerprint sensor and a volume rocker over it, and on the left side, there is a SIM slot. Sadly, the phone doesn’t have any micoSD slot, so you have to be dependable on the internal storage, but for the very first time, Samsung has secured its foldable phone with an IPX8 rating for water resistance.

Display

The third-generation Z Flip3 has a 6.7-inch tall, 1080 pixel wide OLED display. It has been improved compared to its predecessors but not to the extent to blow your mind. It looks and feels just as lovely as Samsung’s other OLED screens and bright enough for outdoor expenditure. It has comparable visuals to other flagship Full HD displays as it arrives with fast touch response, deep blacks, and smooth scrolling.

The display has a new factory-installed screen protector made from a more rigid material to avoid dents or scratches. The exterior display of the Z Flip3 is four times bigger than the original Z Flip’s tiny outer screen and allows you to do a lot of stuff with it, like checking selfie previews, setting timers and many more.

Camera

The camera hardware on the Galaxy Z Flip3 didn’t upgrade, it remains the same as its predecessor. It has wide and ultrawide cameras on the cover, and a hole-punch selfie camera is on the main display. The camera setup in the Z Flip3 is enough to handle casual photography, but you can get the same camera setup in any other smartphone, which will cost you about half-price of Z Flip3.

The image quality looks great in bright lighting, and you’ll get addicted to the ultra-wide-angle camera. The camera provides impressive outcomes even during low light sessions and dark hours, but overall image quality stays below compared to S21 and S21 Ultra’s image quality.

Performance

The Galaxy Flip3 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor and 8GB of RAM, the same as the Galaxy S21, and it runs on Android 11 with the company’s One UI 3.1 skin on top. The flip phone offers an impressive performance throughout the tasks, whether you’re playing games or watching videos.

The tiny 3,300-mAh batteries are the only significant problem in this phone as it only provides between four and five hours of screentime. Fortunately, the phone supports 15-watt fast charging along with wireless and reverse wireless charging options, so there’s no need to worry about Z Flip 3’s stamina.

Final Verdict

Samsung Z flip3 5G is a device that folds performance, style and a novelty factor which otherwise regular boring clamshell phones don’t offer. If this is what you are looking for, then this could be the one which would fit perfectly in your ‘pocket’.

OnePlus India is Offering Free Battery Replacement for Select Models

OnePlus India is known for always coming up with out-of-the-box ideas, and this time, the company has something exciting in its box for their beloved consumers. According to a Reddit post, OnePlus India is offering a free battery replacement for the OnePlus 3, OnePlus 5, OnePlus 5T, OnePlus 6, and OnePlus 6T.

If you have one of these reasonably old OnePlus smartphones, you don’t need to pay a single rupee for the battery replacement. However, there’s no official statement from the company on this offer, but a Reddit user got a free battery replacement for his OnePlus 5T where OnePlus India only charged ₹473 from him as a labour cost.

All of these smartphones are pretty old, and replacing their batteries might increase their life. The reason behind this unusual offering is that OnePlus India has been holding many unused spare batteries for these smartphones. Thus, the company is offering a replacement of batteries for free of cost, an excellent move to develop a strong bond with consumers and clear out the remaining stock.

The free battery replacement offering is only valid if you walk into an official OnePlus store, but if you don’t have time to do so, then alternatively, you have an option to book an online battery replacement for 50 per cent of the total cost. Older phone batteries usually drain faster, and it certainly affects the lifetime of the phone.

The battery of old smartphones usually drains out faster compared to new devices due to the ageing process. To check the status of the battery, users can check the battery health of their OnePlus smartphones on the OnePlus Diagnostic app. If the battery health status is below 70 per cent, we recommend replacing such batteries and now is a perfect time. So, get your batteries replaced before the offer vanishes with the stock.

Google Has Discontinued The Pixel 5 Smartphone

After the official launch of Pixel 5a, Google has discontinued the two already existing Pixel series; Google Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G. The two phones have been put to a halt barely 10 months after their official release.

Both the smartphones have been sold out in Google’s online store, and the remaining stock at other retailers won’t last long. A company spokesperson offered the following statement:

With our current forecasts, we expect Google Store in the U.S. to sell out of Pixel 4a (5G) and Pixel 5 in the coming weeks following the launch of Pixel 5a (5G). These products will continue to be available through some partners while supplies last.

Google Pixel 5A 5G is going to be a fairly direct successor to 4A 5G, but it is surprising to see the Pixel 5 has been discontinued well in advance of the Pixel 6’s arrival this fall.

Google Pixel 5a 5G offers many similar features as that of Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5, with the IP67 rating and metal body offering durability boosts over the 4a 5G and the larger battery adding staying power over the 5. However, the upcoming smartphone won’t be available in the International market, including India. Google has explicitly limited the Pixel 5a 5G to the U.S. and Japan.

The alleged reason for the Pixel 5a 5G launch is said to be the chip shortage affecting the Snapdragon 765, which powers both the older Pixels. If Google is unable to secure enough chips to launch the new 5a 5G widely, it certainly can’t secure enough to keep two older devices on the shelves.

The other reason why it has been discontinued is that Pixel 5 is more similar to the budget-oriented A-Series phones than what the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro appears to be. Google is all set to position the 6-Series as a true flagship competitor to Apple and Samsung’s heavy hitters.

Fortunately, the market won’t be falling short of cheap Android phones as evidenced by Samsung Galaxy Series, the OnePlus Nord 2, Xiaomi’s Mi 11 Lite 5G, among many others.

JioPhone Next Specifications Leaked Before Sales

JioPhone Next, the Android smartphone designed by Reliance Jio in partnership with Google, was unveiled two months ago during the 44th Annual General Meeting in June. The phone is expected to go on sale in September.

Mukesh Ambani, Reliance Chairman and Managing Director, said that the JioPhone would be the most affordable smartphone globally but didn’t reveal any specifications during the announcement. However, the fresh leaks have hinted at some specifications of the upcoming smartphone.

The specifications were released by Mishaal Rahman, Editor-in-Chief at XDA Developers, on Twitter with the phone’s screenshot and boot screen, which says “JioPhone Next created with Google.” The JioPhone Next is said to run on Android 11 (Go Edition) and features a single rear camera and an HD+ display.

The smartphone will have a 1440 x 720 resolution display and Qualcomm’s entry-level 215 chipsets. It also comes packed with Google’s Camera Go and Duo Go apps pre-installed.

JioPhone Next is believed to have 2GB LPDDR3 RAM along with 32 GB of eMMC 4.5 storage. It will have a 13-megapixel OmniVision OV13B10 lens at the back that supports HDR, FHD+ video recording, and even a night mode. It has an 8-megapixel GC0834W front camera by GalaxyCore.

The JioPhone Next is the company’s attempt to make 4G handsets more accessible to those in rural India and those still reliant on 2G networks. The iTel A53 Pro, priced at Rs 4,999, is currently the cheapest 4G smartphone available in India. Since Ambani has said that his device will be the most affordable smartphone available, it is safe to say that the JioPhone Next will be priced below Rs 5,000.

Jio has not shared pricing as of yet.

Mukesh Ambani, Asia’s richest man, disrupted the Indian telecom sector back in 2016, drastically bringing the prices of telecom services down.

Both the smartphones will appear with stock Android 11 out of the box to provide you with an ad-free and bloatware-free experience.

The Motorola Edge 20 is advertised as India’s slimmest 5G smartphone. The Edge 20 Fusion will flaunt a 6.70-inch screen with a 90Hz 10-bit AMOLED display. Meanwhile, the Edge 20 smartphone will sport a similar 6.70-inch screen but with an Ultra Smooth 144Hz HDR10+ AMOLED display. All the smartphones from the Edge lineup will be backed with Lenovo’s ThinkShield for a better mobile security suite.

The Motorola Edge 20 Fusion will flourish a 32MP camera for selfies and a 108MP primary camera paired with an 8MP Ultrawide + Macro Sensor at the rear. While the Motorola Edge 20 will feature a triple camera set-up at the back, a 108 MP primary camera paired up with 8MP Ultrawide + Macro Vision and 8MP 3X telephoto lens with OIS.

The Motorola Edge 20 will opt for a 4,000 mAh battery with 30W TurboPower charging support. In contrast, the Edge 20 Fusion will be packed with a 5,000 mAh battery and the same charging support as Edge 20. The Edge 20 lineup also includes one more smartphone named Edge 20 Pro, but Motorola India’s Twitter account suggests it’s not coming to India for the time being.

Lenovo Tab P12 Pro To Come Out With Snapdragon 855 Chipset

A month ago, Lenovo came out with Yoga Tab 13, Yoga Tab 11, and Tab 11 Plus with global availability. In a new online leak, Lenovo P12 Pro was spotted on Google Play Console. According to the listings, this successor to Tab P11 Pro is not just another budget or mid-range tablet but is a powerhouse.

While Tab P11 Pro featured the Snapdragon 730G mid-range processor, the company is now offering a significant performance upgrade with the Snapdragon 855 chipset in the latest Lenovo Tab P12 Pro. The device also comes equipped with 8GB of RAM, yet another major upgrade from the maximum of 6GB RAM that P11 Pro offered.

However, the device does not match the level of Lenovo Yoga Tab 13, which is equipped with the latest Snapdragon 870, but its small size would appeal to OLED fans. The tablet is expected to run Android 11, and the display resolution is noted to be 2560×1600, which is equal to a pixel density of 240 PPI.

The console neither mentions the screen size of the tablet nor includes the image. But as rumours suggest, Tab P12 Pro looks quite similar to P11 Pro.

Full Specification Of Lenovo Tab P12 Pro

This is pretty much everything we know about the P12 Pro currently, but we are expected to hear more about it in the upcoming weeks.

It is also interesting to note that even though Samsung is the top Android tablet seller by market share, Lenovo is now the fastest growing Android tablet manufacturer. Lenovo saw a 67% increase in shipments compared to Q2 2020.
