Desi Gamers | Creator Of The Month

1. What inspired you to start your journey as Desi Gamers, and where did the name originate?
My journey started about seven years ago, right after college. I was doing different jobs at the time, like helping my brother with panchayat-related government work where I was managing backend tasks, I was also working at a private CA agency where I earned ₹9,000 a month. Also soon around that time, I got a new phone and that is when I started playing games on it. I still have that phone with me because it holds so many memories.
Regarding the start of my YouTube journey, there wasn’t any grand inspiration behind it. No one motivated me. At the time it was simply my desire to experiment and earn some extra income that pushed me to explore this path.
The name? Honestly, there’s no mystery or deep meaning behind it. It was chosen randomly. I just went with what came to my mind and over time, the name became something big, which I never expected.

2. Can you share a moment from your early days of gaming or content creation that still motivates you today?
I used to dream and wonder about what it would be like to play games, record them, do live streams, and have people watch you and see them enjoy my content. The idea of earning money while doing something I loved felt incredible.
And fortunately, now, I’m living that dream and it still motivates me every single day. The thought that I’ve turned my passion into a profession, I am earning through something I truly enjoy and it is the best feeling.
Honestly, I don’t think there’s a bigger motivation than knowing you’ve made a career out of something you’re passionate about. It keeps me going and makes me feel grateful for this journey.

3. What were some of the biggest challenges you faced when you first started, and how did you overcome them?
One of the biggest challenges in my early days was not earning any money for the first year on YouTube. I made a mistake by uploading the entire Baahubali movie, which got millions of views but led YouTube to flag my channel and turn off monetization. At the same time, my Free Fire videos started gaining traction, getting 50,000 to 1 lakh views, but I wasn’t earning anything. It was disheartening to see my channel grow while not being able to benefit financially. Things finally turned around when I reached around 1 lakh subscribers, and monetization was reinstated. Another significant challenge was convincing my parents, especially my father. He wanted me to secure a stable job, but I decided to pursue YouTube full-time, leaving my job behind. It was hard to gain his support at first. However, I proved myself by earning well, traveling to different places, and receiving recognition from people who appreciated my work and shared their admiration directly with him. Over time, he saw the impact of what I was doing, and now, he’s proud of my achievements.

4. How has your content evolved over the years, and what do you think is the secret to staying relevant?
Over the years, my content has shifted to become more freeform and relatable. My main goal is to stand out from the crowd, where there might be 50 or even 500 creators but people recognize me for my unique work. I focus on making my videos different from the rest, with content that people can easily connect to. My priority is entertainment, I want to make people laugh, smile, and feel good when they watch my videos. It’s not that I don’t play well or my gameplay is bad; it’s just that my focus has always been on adding value to people’s lives through entertainment.
As for staying relevant, I believe it’s all about consistently putting out good and unique content. If your content stands out and brings something fresh to the table, people will keep coming back. In my case, my gameplay is relevant, I’m relevant, and I work hard to create something that no one else in the community is doing. Looking ahead to 2025, I’ve got some exciting extra videos planned, and I can’t wait to share them with everyone.

5. What role does your audience play in shaping the direction of your content, and can you share a memorable fan interaction that deeply impacted you?
My audience plays a huge role in shaping my content. They’re not just there to watch, they guide me too. If I make a mistake or say something wrong during a live stream, they’re quick to correct me, and I actually love that. It shows that they care enough to hold me accountable. Sometimes they even debate with me or stand up for me when someone criticizes me unfairly, which means so much. Their support pushes me to do better every day.
I always want to grow with my audience and take them along on this journey. They’re smart, mature, and expect fresh, relevant content, so I constantly try to bring something new. I know if I repeat the same things, they won’t stay engaged, so staying creative is key.
As for fan interactions, there are so many moments that have left a deep impact on me. I’ve met subscribers who’ve cried when they saw me and it is hard to describe how emotional that feels.
I even remember my channel’s very first member who I’ve met personally and that memory stays with me. These moments remind me of the bond I share with my audience and inspire me to keep creating content for them. It’s not just about the numbers, it’s about the real connection we share, and that’s something I’ll always value.

6. What’s your creative process like when planning content? Do you have any rituals or habits?
For me, creative content comes from thinking outside the box. When I see someone using an AK-47 in a game, I’ll ask myself, Why not try something different? So, I’ll challenge myself to play with a sword instead. It’s harder, and it might take me a day or even three to get the right gameplay, but the point is it’s unique. I want to create something no one can easily copy. It’s about making content that stands out, even if it takes longer to make.
I don’t have any set rituals, but I do spend a lot of time exploring. I watch other creators in my space to see what they’re doing, not to copy, but to learn and get inspired. Inspiration is key, but I always try to make it my own.
I’m always looking for new ideas, and these days, with all the AI tools available, I use them to help brainstorm. It’s all about staying curious, trying new things, and keeping the creative juices flowing.

7. How do you decide which games or trends to focus on, and how do you handle creative blocks?
In the entertainment world, your face and personality often play a big role, but in gaming, I believe you really need to become an expert at one game and this is my personal opinion. For example, I focus on Free Fire and to stay relevant and grow, you have to get professional in one game and follow the trends. That’s how your channel can sustain itself over time.
When it comes to handling creative blocks, I’ve found that ideas come naturally with time. As long as good things are happening, you’ll keep getting creative ideas. But if things start to go downhill, like when views drop, and the channel isn’t performing well, it can be tough. You start feeling low, and that’s when creativity takes a hit. It’s important not to let those tough days get to you because eventually, you’ll find your spark again.

8. How do you maintain a healthy balance between your personal life and your online persona?
Earlier, I was all about gaming, editing videos, and uploading every single day. I spent months locked in my room, and my neighbors barely even saw me. I was completely focused on work. But after 2-3 years, I realized something important—it’s not just about creating content; it’s about maintaining your health and well-being because if your health is right, everything else falls into place.
That’s when I started giving myself some time off. I began going out more, visiting new places, and even started a new channel for vlogging. Whenever I traveled, I’d shoot videos and share them. Over time, I got married, and that changed my perspective even more. Now, I’ve switched to uploading weekly instead of daily, and I make sure to spend time with my family. We travel, chill, and enjoy life together.
It’s all about balance. It’s not hard to maintain everything; you just have to prioritize and take things one step at a time.

9. How do you see the gaming landscape in India evolving, and what role do you think creators like you play in its growth?
I believe that gaming in India is only going to get bigger. Right now, most people have only explored mobile gaming because PC gaming can be expensive, but I think the future will bring a shift toward PC games. With better graphics and the immersive experience that a big screen provides, people will be more drawn to it. Once they try it, they’ll get hooked and become fans. It’s a common dream for many guys to have a gaming room with a powerful PC, and I believe that vision will become a reality for more people in the future.
As for my role, I’m a gamer at heart, so I’m always excited to explore new games. People watch me, and then they try the games I play. For example, with the recent Marvel game, I’ve seen a lot of people try it after watching me play. In mobile gaming, it’s similar, people watch me play, download the game, and get into it themselves. Creators like me help introduce new games to the audience, and that’s something I’m proud of.

10. If you could give one piece of advice to someone starting their gaming/content creation journey, what would it be?
My advice would be this: if you’re starting as a gaming content creator, don’t focus too much on what other creators in your niche are doing. It’s easy to watch their videos, get inspired, and end up unintentionally copying their style. You might think you’ve added your own touch, but the truth is, originality comes when you stop looking at others for ideas.
Personally, I don’t watch other creators much, which is why I’m able to come up with fresh ideas. There are so many people out there on YouTube, and if you really want to make it, you need to give it everything you’ve got. Dedicate yourself for at least six months, upload consistently, put your best effort into editing and content, and don’t give up too soon. If after six months you’re not seeing results, then maybe this path isn’t for you. But remember, luck plays a part in YouTube too. You can create great content and still not get the views because sometimes it’s just about timing. So, Youtube is not the only option but yes initially put your full efforts and dedication on this to build the profile.
