The wait for Grand Theft Auto VI remains agonizing, but Rockstar Games isn’t budging from its Fall 2025 release window. In its latest earnings call, Take-Two Interactive reaffirmed that the highly anticipated open-world blockbuster is on track, quelling any fears of a potential delay. While an exact launch date remains elusive, the game is confirmed for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Take-Two Sticks to the Plan
During the Q3 2025 earnings call on Friday, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick underscored the publisher’s ambitious roadmap for the year, emphasizing that GTA 6 will launch as planned. “This calendar year is shaping up to be one of the strongest ever for Take-Two,” Zelnick stated. “With Sid Meier’s Civilization VII hitting Early Access today and its full launch on February 11, Mafia: The Old Country arriving this summer, Grand Theft Auto VI in the fall, and Borderlands 4 closing out the year, we are set for an incredible run.”
Zelnick further highlighted the company’s expectation of record-breaking net bookings in fiscal years 2026 and 2027, fueled by its powerhouse lineup. “We firmly believe that our upcoming titles will redefine the industry and drive our business to unprecedented heights.” Take-Two President Karl Slatoff echoed this confidence, stressing that the company’s fiscal 2026 outlook is bolstered by GTA 6’s confirmed launch this fall.
Hype and Speculation Continue
Despite Take-Two’s reassurances, speculation around GTA 6’s exact release date remains rampant. A now-deleted store listing last month briefly suggested a September 17 launch, but Rockstar Games has yet to confirm any pre-order details or a firm date.
The first trailer for GTA 6, which dropped on December 5, 2023, shattered records and set the gaming world ablaze with anticipation. Since then, Rockstar has remained tight-lipped about the game’s progress. However, a second trailer is expected to drop later this year, potentially revealing crucial release date information.
Meanwhile, Take-Two’s latest financials reflect the company’s strong momentum, reporting $1.37 billion (approximately ₹11,977 crore) in net bookings for the quarter ending December 31, 2024. The company maintains its full-year net bookings forecast of $5.55 to $5.65 billion (roughly ₹48,522 crore to ₹49,398 crore), largely driven by its 2025 game lineup.
With Rockstar’s reputation for meticulously polished releases, the Fall 2025 timeline seems locked in. For now, fans can only wait, and hope that the next GTA chapter lives up to the colossal expectations.
