Age of Empires is making its grand march to smartphones. The iconic real-time strategy game, known for its gripping medieval warfare, will soon be in the palm of your hand, set to launch globally later this year. The buzz has officially begun, with developers announcing a confirmed release date, and the countdown is on for both Android and iOS users to dive into the action. Pre-registration is now live, promising eager players an early ticket to the battlefield. But this mobile edition isn’t just a straight port from the PC, it comes with some intriguing new twists designed specifically for your mobile device.

October 17 is the day when the empire expands. Co-developed by TiMi Studio Group (a Tencent Games subsidiary) and World’s Edge (an Xbox Games Studio), Age of Empires Mobile will be unleashed upon smartphones worldwide. A teaser trailer has already been dropped, giving fans a glimpse of what’s to come. While it keeps gameplay details under wraps, the cinematic flair is enough to spark curiosity and maybe even a little anxiety—about what this mobile venture will bring to the table.

Pre-registrations are open now via the game’s official website, and yes, it’ll be available on both Android and iOS through the Google Play Store and App Store, respectively. But that’s not all: players hungry for a taste of the action before the official launch will have the opportunity to participate in exclusive events. From August 21 to August 25, the Xbox and Level Infinite booths at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, will be buzzing with excitement as Age of Empires Mobile takes centre stage for live on-site events.

A New Era in Your Pocket

What’s particularly exciting is the promise of mobile-specific gameplay designed to breathe new life into the familiar formula. The game will deliver the signature medieval war strategies Age of Empires fans love but with enhancements tailored for mobile. Think epic castle sieges, massive armies, and realistic weapons colliding in real-time, now streamlined for your pocket.

Expect multiple single-player modes built on the game’s beloved heritage but with new features that make the battlefield feel more dynamic than ever before. As October draws nearer, the battle drums grow louder. So, get ready with your troops, and strategise your moves to conquer, once again, wherever you go.
