Redmi has consistently delivered feature-packed gadgets at competitive prices, and the newly launched Redmi Buds 6 is no exception. Priced at an affordable ₹2,999, these earbuds bring dual-driver technology to the table by Xiaomi on Redmi Buds for the first time. With a focus on sound quality and Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), the Redmi Buds 6 aims to be a universal choice for budget-conscious consumers. After testing them for over a week, here’s an in-depth look at how they perform.

Redmi Buds 6 Review: Design

Redmi Buds 6 Review

The Redmi Buds 6 boasts a minimalistic and compact design, making it lightweight and comfortable for extended use. The buds feature an ergonomic shape that fits snugly in the ears, ensuring a secure grip even during walks and workouts. The glossy finish adds a premium touch, while a matte texture strip acts as touch control. The touch-sensitive controls on each earbud are user-friendly, though they may require some time to adapt to. The charging case is pocket-friendly, with an LED indicator for battery status.

Redmi Buds 6 Review: Features and Connectivity

One of the standout features of the Redmi Buds 6 is its dual-driver setup, which is rare in this price range. This configuration delivers a balanced sound profile with crisp highs and decent bass, making it suitable for various music genres. The ANC is decent for its price, effectively reducing low-frequency noises, though it struggles with higher frequencies and loud environments.

The Xiaomi Earbuds app needs to be connected and offers a variety of customization options. Within the app, you can view the battery status for both the earbuds and the charging case. Users have the ability to adjust audio effects, customize touch controls, and switch between different sound modes. Additionally, we encountered an advertisement for three months of free Spotify Premium, but unfortunately, the redemption option was unavailable when we tried to claim it.

The connectivity is seamless, thanks to Bluetooth 5.4, which provides a stable and lag-free connection. The earbuds also support fast pairing and dual connection pairing on both Android and iOS devices, resulting in minimal latency. This makes them a suitable choice for casual gaming and video streaming.

Redmi Buds 6 Review: Battery

The Redmi Buds 6 offer impressive battery performance, making them a reliable choice for extended listening sessions. When fully charged, the earbuds can provide up to 6 hours of playback time while Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) is activated. For users who prefer to use the earbuds without ANC, the battery life extends to approximately 9 hours, allowing for longer enjoyment of music or podcasts without interruption.

The charging case also enhances usability, supplying an additional 33 hours of playback time. This means that with the case, users can enjoy their audio for an entire day without needing to recharge. Furthermore, for those moments when you’re in a hurry, a quick 10-minute charge can yield around 2 hours of listening time, making these earbuds exceptionally convenient for users on the move.

Additionally, the charging case is designed with practicality in mind. It features a battery LED strip that indicates charging status, allowing users to easily monitor the remaining power. This thoughtful design ensures that you’re never caught off guard by a low battery, giving you peace of mind while you enjoy your music.

Redmi Buds 6 Review: Verdict

The Redmi Buds 6 is a fantastic offering for its price, combining great sound quality, decent ANC, and a robust set of features. While the ANC performance might not match higher-end earbuds, it’s sufficient for everyday scenarios. The dual-driver setup ensures an enjoyable audio experience, and the app-based customization is a welcome addition. If you’re looking for budget-friendly earbuds that punch above their weight, the Redmi Buds 6 is an excellent choice.
