Mahindra has infused the Indian EV market with two delectable choices in the form of the BE 6e and XEV 9e SUVs which are equipped not just with futuristic looks but also with leading-edge technology. Both vehicles are built on the company’s new INGLO platform that can integrate 59 kWh and 79 kWh batteries into its skateboard architecture. The ex-showroom price of the BE 6e is set at Rs 18.9 lakhs, while that of the XEV 9e is Rs 21.9 lakh.

The Mahindra BE 6e is the beneficiary of a more athletic look that’s reminiscent of the Tesla Cybertruck. It’s got a sporty profile and aerodynamic features, and its large wheels give it the perfect SUV stance. Its interiors are equipped with a twin-screen setup and aircraft-inspired controls. The claimed range of this EV’s 59 kWh version is 535 kms, while that of its 79 kWh variant is 682 kms.

The Mahindra XEV 9e gets a more sophisticated exterior thanks to its bold, long design and its edge-to-edge DRLs. It offers a cinematic 3-screen layout, with the passenger also getting ample control of the car’s functions. As for the range, the 59 kWh variant boasts 542 kms of running, while the 79 kWh model can go a whopping 656 kms.

Mahindra INGLO platform

Mahindra’s in-house INGLO platform is home to a 210 kW motor that can deliver 380 Nm of instant torque, taking the BE 6e and XEV 9e from 0 to 100 kmph in 6.7 seconds and 6.8 seconds, respectively. Using a 175 kW fast charger, the batteries of these cars can be charged from 20% to 80% in just 20 minutes. Moreover, these batteries come with a full lifetime warranty.

Both cars ship with seven airbags and semi-active suspensions that handle varying road inputs in real-time. They even feature Mahindra’s brake-by-wire technology, which uses an integrated electronic booster capable of maximum recuperation and multiple regen modes with one pedal drive capability.

Mahindra Artificial Intelligence Architecture (MAIA)

The Mahindra Artificial Intelligence Architecture (MAIA) underpins the BE 6e and XEV 9e, delivering a connected, intelligent, and personalized driving experience. Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 processor and 24GB of RAM, it has seamless performance for graphics and multitasking on multiple displays. Connectivity features like Wi-Fi 6.0, Bluetooth 5.2, and 5G Internet enhance entertainment and control, including BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) integration.

Safety and convenience-wise, MAIA brings ADAS Level 2+, tuned for Indian road complexities, offering one-touch lane changes, obstacle detection, and advanced driver assistance. A 360-degree camera provides comprehensive visibility with transparent and swivel views. Additional highlights include Eyedentity, a Driver and Occupant Monitoring System for safety and video calls, VisionX augmented-reality HUD for distraction-free driving, and an optional NFC key card for effortless access. Together, these technologies redefine the eSUV driving experience.

Availability

The Mahindra BE6e and XEV 9e will start reaching dealerships across India in January 2025. Variant-wise ping is not yet available, but we expect Mahindra to reveal it in the coming weeks.
