Top AI Features Launched at YouTube’s ‘Made On’ Event

Madeon

YouTube introduced a series of innovative AI-driven features at its ‘Made On’ event on September 18, aimed at empowering creators with cutting-edge tools to enhance their content. One of the standout announcements was the introduction of Veo, an AI video model developed by Google Deepmind. This tool allows users to generate six-second standalone video clips for YouTube Shorts, offering a creative solution for filling gaps in content. If a video feels incomplete or lacks a connecting element, Veo can automatically create a clip that integrates seamlessly with the rest of the footage. YouTube noted in a blog post that these AI-generated clips will be marked and watermarked with SynthID, ensuring transparency and avoiding confusion with user-generated content.

In another exciting update, YouTube’s Dream Screen feature, which currently enables creators to generate backgrounds for Shorts, will be enhanced with Veo to allow for AI-generated video backgrounds. This feature promises to elevate the visual quality of Shorts, offering creators more creative freedom. However, these updates are expected to roll out later this year. Beyond video generation, YouTube also enhances its AI-powered support for content creators through the Inspiration Tab in YouTube Studio. This new feature provides suggestions for video ideas, titles, thumbnails, and outlines, making it easier for creators to brainstorm and plan their content. With AI assistance, creators can spend less time ideating and more time focusing on producing high-quality videos.

New Features for YouTube Creators

Communities

Communities

YouTube also announced several updates designed to improve creator-fan engagement and content visibility. The introduction of Communities, a new section on creators’ channels, allows fans to engage with creators by discussing videos, sharing fan art, and more. Currently, this feature is available to a select group of creators but will soon be expanded to others.

Hype

Another unique feature, Hype, allows users to “hype” a creator’s video by tapping a button below the Like icon. The more “hypes” a video gets, the higher it climbs on a leaderboard of the top 100 most hyped videos. Users are limited to three hypes per week, and the feature is available for creators with fewer than 500,000 subscribers, helping smaller channels gain visibility.

Auto Dubbing

YouTube is also set to introduce Automatic Dubbing, allowing creators to translate and add audio tracks in multiple languages. Initially supporting Spanish, Portuguese, French, and Italian, this feature captures the tone, intonation, and ambience of the original audio, making dubbed content feel more authentic.

Jewels and Gifts

Other updates include Jewels and Gifts, a set of digital items that fans can gift to creators during live streams, and the expansion of YouTube Shopping to Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam. Additionally, YouTube is enhancing its Connected TV experience with improvements that will make it easier for viewers to play videos directly from a creator’s channel, streamlining subscription options and access to video descriptions.

These new features demonstrate YouTube’s commitment to providing creators with tools that enhance content quality and engagement, solidifying its role as a leading platform for digital expression.
