The Acer Swift Go 14 AI is an intriguing addition to Acer’s lineup, bringing AI-powered features and efficient performance to professionals, students, and casual users. With its sleek design, ARM-based Snapdragon X processor, and Copilot+ AI enhancements, this laptop aims to offer a seamless computing experience. But does it truly meet the needs of modern users? Let’s dive into the details.

Review of Acer Swift Go 14 AI Laptop

Design & Build

The Acer Swift Go 14 AI boasts a lightweight design, weighing just 1.35 kg. This makes it highly portable for professionals and students needing a work or travel laptop. The build quality feels solid, ensuring durability without adding extra weight.

One of the standout features is the compact keyboard, which includes a fingerprint sensor embedded in the power button. This allows for quick and secure Windows login with just a touch, and it is highly accurate. The keyboard follows a compact layout without a dedicated numeric pad, which may take some time for those who frequently work with numbers. However, the backlit keys make it easy to work in low-light environments or at night.

Acer has integrated a Copilot key, offering quick access to Microsoft Copilot for AI-powered assistants. With just one click, we get a quick way to interact with AI for drafting documents, summarizing meetings, and more.

Another interesting addition is the AI-illuminated touchpad, which lights up when AI features are used. While this doesn’t necessarily enhance functionality, it adds a futuristic and interactive touch to the laptop. For security and privacy, the built-in webcam supports Windows Hello face recognition. Acer has also included a physical camera shutter, giving assurance and peace of mind to users concerned about privacy.

Display

The 14.5-inch WUXGA LCD panel delivers sharp and vibrant visuals, making it great for watching movies, working on documents, and browsing. The matte finish reduces glare, making it more usable in bright environments or direct sunlight. However, Acer opted out of adding a touchscreen.

Ports & Connectivity

The laptop offers a decent selection of ports:

  • Two USB-C ports (supports charging and data transfer)
  • Two USB-A ports for older peripherals
  • A headphone jack
  • Charging and power LED indicator

However, it lacks an Ethernet port and a full-sized HDMI port, which could be a drawback for some users. Fortunately, Acer includes a USB-C to HDMI dongle in the box, which helps mitigate this limitation.

Performance

Acer has adopted an ARM-based chipset with the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus processor, paired with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of NVMe SSD storage. Running on Windows 11 Home, the laptop handles everyday tasks with ease.

We tested it with multiple workloads, including 30+ Chrome tabs and video editing in Filmora. While the laptop remained responsive for the most part, we did notice some lag under extreme multitasking conditions, as it maxed out available resources. However, you won’t be running such heavy tasks on the laptop everyday, and this laptop can handle day-to-day tasks like web browsing, document editing, and media consumption flawlessly.

On Geekbench 6, the Acer Swift Go 14 AI achieved scores of 2,389 in single-core and 11,295 in multi-core testing. These impressive scores position it within a competitive range of an Intel Core i5-14400 processor, showcasing the remarkable capabilities of an ARM-based architecture. This performance highlights not only the efficiency of the Swift Go 14 AI but also its potential to handle demanding applications, making it an appealing choice for users seeking robust computing power along with power efficiency.

While the Qualcomm Adreno X1-45 GPU is optimized for efficiency, it isn’t designed for gaming. Most games from the Microsoft Store run at 30fps or lower, making it unsuitable for intensive gaming. The GPU scored 9,971 on Geekbench 6, which is below-average compared to other GPU-equipped laptops.

AI Features

The Acer Swift Go 14 AI has a range of AI-driven features that significantly enhance user experience and productivity. It includes Microsoft Copilot Integration, featuring a dedicated Copilot key that gives effortless access to AI tools for drafting documents, summarizing content, and generating AI images. The device also boasts Acer PurifiedVoice 2.0, which can filter out background noise with advanced noise reduction technology. Its webcam utilizes Acer PurifiedView 2.0 to optimize video conferencing with auto-framing, eye contact correction, and background blur capabilities. All these functionalities work flawlessly.

Additionally, the GT Booster AIFlow acts as an intelligent internet accelerator, and the primary purpose of this app is to prioritize necessary applications such as video calls and streaming to minimize lag and optimize performance. Lastly, the AI-Lit touchpad adds a modern touch by illuminating when AI features are in use, giving users a visual cue. All these AI features make Acer Swift Go 14 AI an exceptional tool for professionals and students, designed to make life easier with digital interactions.

Battery Life

One of the biggest advantages of using a Snapdragon X Plus processor is battery efficiency. The Acer Swift Go 14 AI lasted an impressive 19 hours and 32 minutes in our battery test, which involved continuous web browsing, video editing, and streaming at 150 nits brightness. This makes it an excellent choice for those who need an all-day laptop without constantly reaching for a charger.

Verdict

The Acer Swift Go 14 AI is a well-rounded laptop that blends portability, AI-enhanced productivity, and impressive battery life. It excels in everyday performance, video conferencing, and multitasking, making it ideal for students, professionals, and casual users. However, it falls short in gaming performance and lacks a touchscreen, which some users might miss.
