Tata Curvv EV Sets New Record with Fastest Kashmir to Kanyakumari EV Drive

Tata EV’s Curvv EV has shattered records, completing the Kashmir to Kanyakumari drive in just 76 hours and 35 minutes, which is 19 hours faster than the previous record held by the Nexon EV MAX. Covering 3,800 km, the Curvv EV set 20 national records, which Tata deems demonstrates the growing reliability of India’s EV ecosystem.

Flagged off in Srinagar by J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on February 25, 2025, and received in Kanyakumari by MP Thiru Vijay Vasanth on February 28, the Curvv EV navigated varied terrains with just 16 charging stops. Improved infrastructure and battery technology reduced total charging time from 28 hours to 17, highlighting India’s rapidly expanding EV charging network.

As per Tata EV, the key developments since the previous record run include:

  • India’s charging network has grown by 227% to 18,000 chargers, with high-powered 60-120 kW stations.
  • 85% of national highways now have fast chargers every 50 km.
  • The iRA.ev app maps 12,000+ chargers, offering optimized route planning and charging insights.
  • The .ev Verified Charger program ensures reliability, while Tata EV’s Unified RFID card simplifies payments.

Vivek Srivatsa, CCO of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, emphasized that this journey was meant to prove EVs can match ICE vehicles in long-haul efficiency. “The fact that we eclipsed our own record by 19 hours reflects the maturity of EV technology and infrastructure,” he said.

The Curvv EV, powered by Tata’s acti.ev platform and a 55 kWh battery, covered nearly 1,200 km daily, proving that long EV journeys are now practical.

The rapid expansion of charging infrastructure is eliminating range anxiety, making long-distance EV travel more viable. Tata’s leadership is evident, and this record run could be the push needed for mass EV adoption. The question now is—how soon will the rest of the industry catch up?
