Meta-owned WhatsApp is set to elevate its Android experience with a redesigned chat list interface, now rolling out in beta version 2.24.25.8. According to WABetaInfo, this update is currently accessible to select beta testers, with broader availability anticipated in the coming days.
This latest upgrade reflects WhatsApp’s ongoing commitment to enhancing user functionality. Building on prior features like the ability to delete preset chat filters such as “Unread” and “Groups,” the update introduces tools for creating, managing, and removing custom chat lists directly from the chat screen, making the organisation more intuitive than ever.
The new interface streamlines filter management: users can now delete preset filters by simply tapping and holding, revealing a quick option to remove them. Additionally, a newly added button under the primary filters enables the effortless creation of custom lists. This button is seamlessly integrated into the app’s design, ensuring a visually cohesive experience. Restoring deleted filters is equally straightforward, thanks to a one-tap restore option, further simplifying navigation.

Visually, the redesigned interface prioritises organisation and clarity. Prominent filters such as “Favourites” and “Various Conversations” now feature at the top of the screen, ensuring quick access. The refreshed layout aligns closely with other app sections like “Security” and “Mail,” emphasising a clean, user-friendly aesthetic.
While the revamped chat list is exclusive to beta testers for now, WhatsApp has hinted at a limited rollout for stable app users before the full release. An official launch date remains under wraps, but users can look forward to a more streamlined and customisable experience in the near future. This update underscores WhatsApp’s focus on delivering a modern, efficient interface, ensuring it stays ahead in the ever-evolving messaging landscape.
