Nikon has officially launched the Nikon Z50II, an APS-C size (Nikon DX-format) mirrorless camera designed with content creators, vloggers, and streamers in mind, addressing a spectrum of skill levels.
During the announcement, Mr. Sajjan Kumar, Managing Director of Nikon India Pvt. Ltd., highlighted the company’s commitment to innovation. “At Nikon, we are dedicated to advancing imaging solutions to meet our customers’ evolving needs. With the introduction of the Z50II, we aim to redefine creative possibilities. This versatile camera is particularly aimed at content creators across genres, featuring 4K video capture through 5.6K oversampling and AI-powered portrait enhancements. We’re excited to deliver a product that empowers creators to express their unique visions, marking a new era in creative expression,” he stated.
The Z50II boasts enhanced video performance, equipped with an EXPEED 7 image-processing engine, which is also utilized in Nikon’s flagship Z9 model. This engine supports high-resolution 4K video recording via 5.6K oversampling. Additionally, it allows for N-Log video recording, with RED LUTs available for free download, providing greater tonal gradation for high-quality video.
Among its innovative features, the Z50II integrates advanced AI-driven tools like Skin Softening and Portrait Impression Balance to boost portrait photography. These enhancements enable users to achieve professional results quickly, making it ideal for fast-paced social media content creation.

Notably, the Z50II is the first in the Z Series to include a product review mode, which focuses on objects in the foreground, and a video self-timer function that offers intervals of 2 or 10 seconds before recording begins. This simplifies the editing process, allowing creators to avoid unnecessary footage capture when making review videos or vlogs. The camera also supports USB streaming (UVC/UAC), enabling seamless connections for clear images during online meetings and live streaming.
The Z50II inherits an advanced auto-focusing system that features the same 9-type subject detection as the flagship Z9 model. Its Pre-Release Capture function buffers images up to one second before the shutter-release button is fully pressed, ensuring that crucial moments are never missed. This feature supports continuous shooting at an impressive 30 frames per second.
In AUTO mode, novice photographers can benefit from Nikon’s EXPEED 7 image processor and proprietary deep learning technology, which optimally adjusts autofocus, flash, and exposure settings to suit various scenes. With a simple press of the shutter, users can capture images tailored to their settings, whether creating beautifully blurred backgrounds for portraits or sharp, clear shots.
The Z50II is equipped with a high-luminance electronic viewfinder (EVF) boasting a brightness of 1000 cd/m², making it the brightest in its category. This enhancement allows for easy focus and detail checks, even in bright outdoor conditions. The EVF’s brightness helps reduce the strain on the eyes and promotes a more enjoyable shooting experience.
By incorporating features like Imaging Recipe and Picture Control, the Nikon Z50II stands out as the first APS-C camera to offer users creative flexibility, enabling them to explore and establish unique visual styles with the Nikon Imaging Cloud. Users can also save personalized adjustments to color, brightness, contrast, and more as custom recipes, enhancing their creative process.
The new Nikon Z50II camera body and the MC-DC3 Remote Cord are set to launch in India by the end of November 2024, with the body priced at ₹77,995/- available at Nikon outlets. Additionally, customers can choose from several kit options: the Z50II paired with the NIKKOR 16-50MM lens for ₹91,645/-, the Z50II with both the NIKKOR 16-50MM and 50-250MM VR lenses for ₹1,12,645/-, or the Z50II bundled with the NIKKOR Z DX 18-140MM F/3.5-6.3 VR lens for ₹1,15,795/-.
